Insomniac is the fourth album of Green Day. It was released on October 10, 1995 by Reprise Records. Recordings took place in Hyde Street Studios in San Francisco, California with producer Rob Cavallo. Insomniac incorporated a heavier and abrasive sound compared to their previous album Dookie. Lyrically, the album discusses subjects ranging from anxiety, alienation, and drug use. Insomniac also served as a response to fans who stopped supporting the band after agreeing to join Reprise Records.

The album debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart, selling 171,000 copies in its first week of release. It went on to be certified double platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Four singles were released off the album: "Geek Stink Breath", "Stuck with Me", "Brain Stew" / "Jaded" (released as joint singles), and "Walking Contradiction", all of which received radio airplay and much popularity. Critically, the album was received greatly by critics. Insomniac has sold more than 2 million copies in the United States. Worldwide, it has sold more than 8 million copies.

The album was re-released in 2021 for its 25th anniversary, which included previously unreleased live tracks.
